There is salt in my bones
mountains in my lungs
my chest; transparent like a jellyfish
light and quivering with trembling tendrils that contort and twist with each unexpected breath
my skin is a shell made entirely from thick slabs of coral
rough and hardened from years spent in this watery bed
I cry only in salt water, bury my head in my sea glass pillow as crystals emerge from my skin
this process repeats itself until I am glistening and beautiful
mimicking my surroundings
refracting light back to the opaque surface
a flickering glow
emanates from my capillaries
Steadfast and heavy, weighted down by my breath
I rest on mounds of scales and flesh which bursts like squashed fruits beneath me
stagnant and acrid
abhorrent tufts of matter
a galaxy of creatures residing within.
